Long story short: opportunity knocked. And we listened. And we traveled to the Great White North in the middle of the coldest winter there ever was.  And we bought new coats and unpacked our belongings in a 140-year-old building that makes me think of a wine cellar/creepy hotel. And we soon discovered the wonders of the two-flush toilet, ketchup chips, and the Canadian KitKat.

I am a professional writer who recently relocated from Seattle to Quebec City, Canada to learn French and document expat life. After a year or so there, I moved back to Seattle where I currently am. I still retain my crown as a Quebec City insider and have authored multiple guidebooks and articles on the area. Still learning French. Still traveling.

I live with ‘The Husband, Jake and a 15-pound boston terrier, Elwood. An anglo is someone whose native tongue is English. Otherwise known as the girl in the black hoodie who can’t roll her “r”s to save her life and who consistently gets the wrong sandwich at Subway because she says “oui” when she really means, “no olives.”

Update: Canada was wonderful, Quebec is my favorite country-that-isn’t a country, but things became unstable and we had to move back to Seattle. I still write about and travel to the area often. I am still also learning French. I am also now a freelance travel writer and having a blast.
